It's November, 1879, and the mist-filled streets are not as empty as they appear. Against a backdrop of exploding heads, bullying geese, haunted gas lamps, and sinister, other-worldly terrors, a hapless urchin searches for his lost brother, a gentleman discovers the infuriating complications of love, and a flower girl joins forces with the meanest beast in London. However, as they stumble through each horrific event, one thing becomes painfully clear: there is Murder at the Scrambling Dragon!

   Hai rubbed rainwater from his eyes and blinked intently at the light above him. The buzz became rhythmical and grew louder as it filled the air, while the rain began to pour. Monsters, thought Hai. A whole big gang of giant, monstrous insects who have scorpion tails and long, pointy arms like spears, with burning coals instead of eyes and poisonous breath that goes up your nose and melts your brain.

   The more immediate situation, which involved an intoxicated man walking towards him with what must have been the "thrashing cane," was probably far more urgent, but the buzzing in the darkness above was becoming increasingly hard to ignore.
